How to write footnotes for digital

Use this style for web, email and other digital content.

Footnotes should appear at the end of the page content in the "Legal style" font. They should always have a corresponding superscripted number in the body of the content. The superscripted number always goes outside the ending punctuation, including quotation marks. 

In the U.S.

Note number. "linked title," first name last name of author (only if relevant), publication name, website (if applicable). Month date, year or month year (only if relevant).

Examples:

1. "Endowment funds of the 120 degree-granting postsecondary institutions with the largest endowments, by rank order: Fiscal year 2018," The National Center for Education Statistics, NCES.ed.gov.

2. “Yield to Worst (YTW),” James Chen, Investopedia, Investopedia.com.

3. “What to know about Juneteenth, the emancipation holiday,” NBC News, NBCnews.com.

4. "How to Stop Holding Yourself Back," Simon Sinek Inc, Linkedin.com.

5. "The Intelligent Investor," Benjamin Graham, HarperCollinsPublishers, Amazon.com.

6. "The Intelligent Investor by Benjamin Graham Book Review," Investopedia, Investopedia.com.

7. “The Importance of Giving Credit,” Sachin H. Jain​, Harvard Business Review. HBR.org.

8. Investing Basics: Stocks," TD Ameritrade. YouTube.com.

In the UK

UK style is almost the same, except that it places the comma outside of the quotation marks.
